Do you know much about your own parents?

My mom was and still is pretty vague about her childhood. I have only 2 or 3 photos and she never talks about what her life was like as a kid. I really want to know!! I almost feel cheated. Maybe that's why scrapbooking for my own kids is so important to me. It wasn't until my dad was in the hospital with cancer that he told me how he and Mom met. My dad's life story is even more vague. I only know that he grew up in Bakersfield, had 11 siblings, and went into the army at age 17 and served in WWII.

I know some some. When my oldest was in school, he had to do a project to interview someone who lived during an important era, so he chose my mom who was born during the depression. We video taped her conversation and she told some pretty cool stories to him that I never heard. I guess all you have to do is ask.Now that my mom is older she doesn't 't want to talk about anything, wish I would have been more interested then.
One of the best stories was how my grandmother would take leftovers down to the railroad tracks and feed it to the hobo 's. I think my grandmother would have been something if given the opportunity. She was quite a person!
